Oscar Huffine, who convinced James H. Irvine to build a salt works in Newport Back Bay in 1934, needed to live close to the salt works to manage the control gates 24/7. His home was located approximately where the wooded plot on this property is located today. The Huffine house was demolished in 1963 to make way for the realignment and widening of Jamboree Road.

Beach and caves used for Gilligan's Isle TV show. From this spot, looking across the bay, is view of opening shot when SS Minnow leaves on a "three-hour tour."

You're correct, Mikey. And, headstone has recently(?) been vandalized. Someone has glued a round metalic-like coin that reads "King of Kings, Jesus, Lord of Lords." This was NOT part of the original brass plaque.
